Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is your philosophy?
At Wild Fig Lactation our main goal is to listen, support, and guide - no matter how you are feeding your baby. We stay up to date with evidence-based information and recommendations, and tailor these to your needs and goals.
We use HIPAA-compliant charting and communication to ensure your privacy. We always strive to be inclusive. Please communicate any special considerations we may need to know to ensure you have a safe and respectful experience.
-
How many sessions will we need?
It depends on your situation. Many issues take time to improve, and require multiple visits. Others may improve immediately. We often refer to other practitioners as well - bodyworkers, pediatric dentists, or other therapists to provide comprehensive care. We believe in a team appoach!
-
Do you take insurance?
We are in-network with Carefirst/BCBS/Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, and Hopkins EHP. This means you will likely have low or no cost lactation support.
Most private insurance plans will cover up to 6 lactation visits (including prenatal consultation). Medicaid/Medicare plans do not reimburse for private lactation. If you have questions, feel free to send an e-mail!
-
What if I need to cancel?
We require 24 hours notice to cancel or there is a fee. If you or anyone in your home is sick, you may cancel or reschedule free of charge. If you have a family emergency, we are reasonable and can work something out. Please e-mail if that is the case!
-
What is your travel radius?
We provide in-home visits in Baltimore City and many parts of Baltimore County. Keeping our radius small allows us to not charge a travel fee.
-
Do you take any infectious disease precautions?
The last thing you want when you have a newborn is illness. We practice hand hygiene when in your home and ask your mask preference for us before our first appointment. We are up to date with our vaccinations as well!
